We absolutely loved our stay at Zuurberg, and cannot recommend the place enough for anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing place to stay near Addo Elephant Park. The surroundings of the property are gorgeous, nestled in the mountains, and the property itself is also beautiful. Our bedroom looked just like the photos and was very comfortable, and had everything we needed for our stay. Customer service was impeccable and we felt welcome and well looked after from arrival. Alexandra was superb and helped us not only with information about our stay but also with extra tips for our ongoing journey. All the staff were lovely and always ready to help. We also did a whole day game drive and an elephant encounter, both experiences organized by the property and both excellent. Zuurberg was fantastic and we look forward to coming back!

The gravel road from Uitenhage to Addo was bad.
The gravel road from Uitenhage to Addo was bad. Only one restaurant open on a Sunday. Addo Elephant Park as always is a pleasure to visit. Longer travel time due to stop and go for roadwork, just be aware.

We can’t get enough of the Elephant Park and we’re loving the Safari’s at Schotia. Zip lining at Adrenaline is also one of our favourites. We are living 4 hours away from Addo, so most of the time we are coming for the weekend ( Two nights) . It’s always too short…
The area "Addo" is not really nice, but there are nice places to stay.

Addo Elephant National Park was nice.
Addo Elephant National Park was nice. We saw tons of elephants, zebras, and other resident animals native to this area in the park. Probably best to spend one night in accommodations in or near the national park and then the other night in one of the game reserves near the park.

Addo has a lot to see but as with all national parks, what you see will depend on weather and season. The park is small enough to cover in a day but definitely would recommend a longer stay.
Elephants are always there but what I enjoy more are the smaller things like the birds. The bush is dense so if self driving, slow down.

Watching the elephants swimming at the different dams, it was a good experience. We spent the whole day driving around hoping to see a lion with no luck. I don't think they have a lion. I haven't heard any guest saying s/he saw a lion.
Perfect to visit Addo Elephant Park. Just 5 min Drive From the main entrance.
A shame that we didnt stay longer to explore the área.
The accomodation was veeeery nice and welcoming.
The room huge and a full equiped kitchen.
And the owners, specialy Kaitlin, were super friendly. She explained all necesary and gave us tips to visit the Park.
There is also option of eating pizza just 1 min walk. Best wishes to you Kaitlin!
We couldn’t recommend this place more highly - you HAVE to stay here if you’re visiting Addo which is only 10 mins away. Beautiful apartments with cosy modern rooms and a braii area, great communal pool and dining room. The food here is amazing and really high level - delicious every time! The staff are the highlight, so friendly and helpful. Thanks Addo Team for one of the best hotel stays we’ve ever had.
The room was big and neat.
The gravel road to the property isnt that bad. It is no problem for any car in my opinion.
We chose this property because it is nearby Addo Elephant Park entrance (15 minutes drive). Good value for the money.
On Booking.com it is stated that the property only accepts cash. This is not the case. Card payment was possible. Maybe the management should update this information.
Very pleasant and quiet surroundings. Lovely evening views of the sunset. Hosts were very attentive to our requirements, professional, responsive, informative and friendly without being intrusive. Accommodation was spacious, comfortable and really well equipped. Not far from Addo Elephant Park with easy drive to main gate. If we are in the area again this would certainly be our preferred choice.
Beautiful place right by the entrance to Addo National Park. Chalets are amazing, with all amenities provided and surrounded by a vast area of greenery (some antelopes running around..). Excellent restaurant on site with delicious food and reasonable prices. A nice wildlife sanctuary with small animals and birds free for guests. We loved everything about this place. Highly recommend.
Beautiful Guesthouse with a wonderful garden, perfect for a Addo Elephant Park visit.
We loved the breakfast. The host family was so helpful and caring. We’d recommend staying at Gerald’s when visiting this area.
Make sure, to follow the directions at Gerald’s website when coming from Port Elizabeth Airport or from anywhere else to the guest house. Don’t rely on Google maps.
Lisa was warm and welcoming when we arrived. We stayed in a beautiful chalet overlooking the river. The view was amazing, especially during sunset. The chalet had been recently renovated and everything felt new and clean! Tastefully decorated and had everything that we needed. Great location close to Addo Elephant Park. Would definitely stay again!
Peace and quiet, exactly what was needed to unwind and forget about work and everyday life. The location is amazing, clean and everything and more is available for a great self catering getaway.
