Doringbaai is a very small fishing community with holiday accommodation . There is a general store and fuel available . The little harbor is beautiful between the huge rocks . The restaurant on the pier and wine cellars are the main attraction to make a visit worth. The food is very good and everybody is friendly and helpful. The Police is very visible and patrol regularly to keep the little town safe. We also have dinner at SEE SPENS and the food was good. The dirt roads towards Elandsbaai is good and at Elandsbaai in the harbor is a restaurant " ISSABELLAS" not to be missed , very very good food .There are so many good things in the area to explore that I cannot mention every thing we saw and experience.

A great place to stay out of the normal run of tourists.

A great place to stay out of the normal run of tourists. Good roads getting there. Very friendly hostess, who went out of her way to assist us. Given the area very limited restaurant availability, but the attached service was great and well priced.

What a gem of the West Coast!

What a gem of the West Coast! Full of surprises, from the excellent Thorn Bay accommodation, Fryer's Cove winery and restaurant (try the perlemoen, that's abalone for the non-locals). Great beaches, Doringbaai itself and in nearby Strandfontein. The tar road via Lutzville's the safest choice, but we enjoyed the southern access sneaking through the railway service road more.

If you like peace and quiet, then Doring Bay is for you.

If you like peace and quiet, then Doring Bay is for you. Fryer's cove was an experience as well as the home preparedseafood platter at the Seespens. Locals are friendly and helpful. I would also suggest rather use the N7 to Vredendal, Lutzville and Doring Bay.

Sunday morning loud music blaring through the whole village before 8 in the morning. Finding a spot to watch the rugby and have something to eat was problematic on Saturday. Fryer's Cove restaurant with authentic West Coast seafood can be recommended.
